Images of a Legend

His Story in Photographs

Because of his legendary status, and a career in speedway of over 30 years, there are a large number of images of Barry Butterworth available on the web (often copied and re-copied). They have been collected here in chronological order, and along with the explanatory captions, they tell the story of the legendary midget, supermodified and sprintcar driver. Where possible, a known (original) source of the images is given and the source of all additional scanned images is noted and acknowledged. The story of Barry B would certainly be incomplete without these great photographs. The photographers, and those who have collected, preserved and in many cases published these images (particularly Allan Batt, Tony Loxley, Wayne Meyer, Brian Darby and David Batten) are recognized and acknowledged as are photographers Tony Loxley, John Mahoney, and particularly Colin Irwin, who searched their extensive photographic archives to find photographs of Barry B racing during the 80’s for this personal collection.
